For our spring menu this year, we teamed up with No Kid Hungry, a nonprofit organization that makes sure no child in America grows up hungry. They connect children to millions of school breakfasts and summer meals, even helping low income families stretch their tight food budgets, across the nation. This cause is near and dear to our hearts so when Chef Lentine suggested we waive her usual fee and instead donate a portion of every spring menu item sold to the campaign, it felt like a match more perfect than avocado and bacon.
Now that all has been said and done…the last Med Bowl tossed and the final Moroccan Caesar prepped, we are proud to announce that we were able to donate 38,619 meals to kids in need! We are more than thrilled for all the support that was given, because our original goal was 36,000 donations!
Chef Lentine was just as excited as we were: “THANK YOU for the opportunity to work with you all… I’m so impressed that your teams and the recipes were able to surpass the goals set. Working with you all has been such a privilege, really proud, and so pleased we can share all that good energy for this cause.”
Adele Cowart Nelson, the director of Chefs Cycle for No Kid Hungry, couldn’t contain her excitement either: “This is unreal!! What a huge success for MAD Greens and for us - thank you so much!!!”
So thank you to every single guest who enjoyed the tasty Mediterranean Grain Bowl or devoured the scrumptious Moroccan Caesar salad, or even downed a Gingered Lemonade, because with each purchase, we were able to give students the healthy breakfast they need. We are so incredibly proud of the success that came out of this, and we are grateful for all of those that made this goal a reality!
